A hero passed away recently. This hero was not a soldier on the battlefield of a far off land, this hero was not a policeman killed in the line of duty. This hero was not a first responder who died in the line of duty.
This hero was a rescuer.

Every day and every night there is a small army of volunteers who rescue dogs and other animals from shelters. These heroes transport these animals to foster care volunteers, to animal adopters and to no kill animal shelters as well.
Keith Royer died doing what he was dedicated to and loved doing.

Keith Royer will continue to be a hero as his organs are slated to be donated. Even in death, Keith Royer is a hero.
